We want to get you all the info on Womens Motorcycle Helmets on the internet all in one place.

Do You Belong?

Along the way I’ve heard of many women’s motorcycle groups. A few being Motor Maids, Women’s International Motorcycle Association, Women on Wheels and Women in the Wind .

I wonder though, how many of our readers are members of these groups? For those that are members, what do you feel you gain from being in the group and for those that aren’t, have you ever considered it?

It seems that these organizations would all be great places where women riders can meet others just like themselves. In addition, these organizations host rides, fundraisers and other events.

Tell us your thoughts on women’s motorcycle groups…

Basics of Helmet Buying: Safety

Are you in the market for a new helmet? If so, there are a few things you should consider before you buy.

First of all, it’s important to remember that women’s motorcycle helmets are made smaller and different than men’s. Therefore, doing research on women’s helmets before buying is a very good idea. Since proper fit is essential, many people recommend trying on multiple helmets for fit, comfort and quality before making a final decision.

While women’s helmets coming in a variety of colors and designs, don’t let this fool you. Safety should be your first priority when choosing a helmet. There are two main ratings that are used on helmets, DOT and Snell.

The United States Department of Transportation (DOT) rates helmets based on a few standards, including impact force. The catch here is that there is NOT always actual testing on each helmet. A manufacturer can advertise that their helmet is DOT rated if the manufacturer believes that the particular helmet meets the DOT standards. Every so often, helmets are randomly purchased by DOT and tested. Surprisingly (or maybe not), there are quite a few helmets that DO NOT pass the DOT testing, even though they may have previously been rated as DOT approved.

Another, more stringent rating is Snell. Rather than passing a series of standards, helmets with this rating are actually tested in 7 different areas including impact, penetration, and flame resistance. Snell testing is voluntary, and the manufacturers pay for the helmet to be tested. It is also important to note that Snell recommends that all helmets, regardless of their rating, be replaced every five years.

As safety is the most important factor in choosing a helmet, you should always feel confident that the helmet your buying is going to keep you safe. By researching and being informed, you can make a safe choice with each helmet purchase.

Oh Yeah!
Ok so I absolutely love the helmet! It really helps stabilize your head when you have to turn when checking on traffic. It is everything that I could ask for in a helmet, comfy, cute (not girl next door), and protects big time. Only problem I had (shoei is fixing now) is my left plate is not secure and caused a whistle but like I said shoei is making good. 5 star rating on this one.

So - brace yourself - Shoei finally announced a pink helmet! I’m not a fan of butterflies, but the Shoei RF-1000 Flutter is better than nothing. A lot better.
After reading rave reviews in webBikeworld, Motorcycle Cruiser, and numerous other publications, I’ve been wanting to try out a Shoei RF-1000 since I’ve started riding again.
The Flutter also comes in blue, and should be available at the end of the month.

Amazing helmet, especially for the price. Get a little rattle from one of the vents, but it's not a deal-breaker.
